The Story Behind the Little Mole and His Friends
The Little Mole, known as “Krtek” in Czech, was created in 1957 by Zdeněk Miler. The inspiration struck Miler when he tripped over a molehill and decided to choose an animal that was not yet popular in animation. The first episode, “How the Mole Got His Trousers,” quickly gained international acclaim. The character does not speak, making him universally relatable. His adorable, childlike nature and adventures, often with friends like the rabbit, mouse, and hedgehog, give the series its unique charm. With over 50 episodes, the series showcases the Little Mole in various roles, from photographer to chemist. Today, the Little Mole remains a cultural icon, beloved by audiences of all ages.
